Congressional candidate Derrick Crowe today welcomed the endorsement of the Circle C Area Democrats, or CCAD, the largest Democratic club in Travis County. Crowe is a progressive Democrat running to replace U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, in Texas’ 21st Congressional District.
“Our opponents have pollsters, image consultants, and money behind them, but we have something much more powerful: a broad-based coalition of progressives from all across District 21,” Crowe said. “CCAD’s endorsement shows that our progressive, populist campaign has broad appeal with our fellow Democrats. That’s exactly what we need to win in November.”
According to the group’s website, CCAD is “dedicated to community service and to the election of Democrats to local, regional, and national office. Our membership includes residents of Circle C, Western Oaks, Legend Oaks, Shady Hollow, Scenic Brook, Maple Run, Deer Park at Maple Run, Twin Creeks, Sendera, Oak Creek Parke, Aviara, Meridian, Oak Hill and other southwest Austin neighborhoods.”
The group’s endorsement is the latest sign that Crowe’s campaign is gaining momentum in the 2018 Democratic primary in TX-21. Crowe previously won the endorsement of UT University Democrats and Bexar County Young Democrats, in addition to recent endorsements by Our Revolution San Antonio and Central Texas, Left Up to US, Justice Democrats, Democracy for America, and Blue America. Crowe also handily won the Bexar County Democrats 2018 Primary Straw Poll.
Crowe is a progressive organizer, former senior staffer for top Democrats in Congress, and a former small business owner. His platform includes fighting corporate power and Wall Street influence through policies like College for All, Medicare for All, a $15/hour minimum wage, and urgent climate change action.
