Endorsement solidifies Crowe’s position as the progressive torch-bearer in the race to replace U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas
Justice Democrats, a national progressive organization co-led by former Bernie Sanders campaign staffers, today endorsed Derrick Crowe in the 2018 Democratic primary election for Texas Congressional District 21. Justice Democrats aim to “reboot the Democratic Party and win a progressive majority in Congress in 2018.”
“I’m committed to fighting the biggest bullies in our politics: corporations, Wall Street, and the billionaire class,” Crowe said. “I’m glad to have folks like Justice Democrats in my corner as we take on powerful special interests in Central Texas. Together, we fight for good jobs, a vibrant environment, and the recognition of health care as a right, not a privilege for the wealthy.”
Justice Democrats was created by Cenk Uygur, CEO of The Young Turks, Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk and Zack Exley and Saikat Chakrabarti. Exley and Chakrabarti are former Bernie Sanders campaign staffers.
Justice Democrats’ endorsement of Crowe follows his endorsement by Democracy for America, the million-member-strong progressive grassroots organization with 79,226 members in Texas. Locally, Crowe also recently won the endorsement of Bexar County Young Democrats and won a decisive victory at the Bexar County Democrats Primary Straw Poll event on Nov. 11.
Crowe is a progressive organizer, former Democratic congressional staffer, and former small business owner. His platform includes support for real climate change action, Medicare For All, a $15/hour minimum wage, and College for All. Learn more: https://electcrowe.com.
